What is it? – First of all, we have our general School of the Spirit classes every other week. Those individuals who are part of the evangelism training will also do outreach events, and will be trained in “practical”, “prophetic”, and “power” evangelism.
What is “practical” evangelism? – This involves knowing how to present Jesus and the Good News to someone else, and how to lead them to Him.
What is “prophetic” evangelism? – This is being led by the Spirit in evangelism so that you know where to go, who to talk to, and what to say. Jesus said, “The Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever he sees the Father doing, these things the Son also does in like manner.” (John 5:20)
It involves more than knowing how to present the facts of why Jesus died and rose again – it means that God will, by the Holy Spirit, give you a “word” about a person’s life or heartfelt needs. He will show you something to say that will let them know that God is real and that He loves them. This is all about hearing God on their behalf, and then speaking it to them on His behalf.
What is “power” evangelism? – God will heal or do miracles for someone to show them He loves them. This is similar to “prophetic” evangelism – God shows up and does something to show them who He is and what He is like. This gets their attention. Everyone has to make their own decision to follow Jesus, but when the Lord has just healed someone or set them free from some demon, they are generally more receptive to actually listen to and believe what you say. That’s the purpose of signs and wonders – it’s a sign that Jesus is alive and risen from the dead. They make people stop and wonder… “What’s going on here? Where did my pain go? I can’t believe I can bend over. I haven’t done this for years!” Or… “That fear I always have in my heart, how did you make it go away?” And since you’re the one who just prayed for them in the name of Jesus, they will probably listen to what you have to say about Him.
What are the purposes of the School of the Spirit – Evangelism Training?
How is the School set up? - The School has three parts to it:
When can I start? – You may contact the pastor at any time to set up an appointment to apply for the evangelism training part of our School of the Spirit. Of course, anyone may go to any of our public meetings at any time, and this includes our School of the Spirit classes that meet every other week - but if you want to receive training on a more personal level and be part of an evangelism team, then you must first meet with the pastor and apply.
